PORTLAND, Ore. (Friday, May 8, 2026) – The Portland Thorns fell 3-1 on the road at Racing Louisville FC Friday night, ending the team’s five-match unbeaten streak.
Portland got things started early when midfielder Olivia Moultrie sent a deep ball into the Louisville half to find forward Sophia Wilson, who controlled the ball and shot the ball low past the keeper to get the Thorns on the board first.
The hosts would soon amplify the pressure as they searched for an equalizer. Portland goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold was able to keep out their effort in the 11th minute with a low dive fingertip save, but Louisville midfielder Katie O’Kane would manage to get one on the board three minutes later when a ball bounced her way in the box and struck it into the bottom left corner.
Both sides then went back and forth as they tried to get ahead before the break. Moultrie had the closest opportunity to take the lead for Portland with a close-range toe tap in the 42nd minute yet the ball went just wide as things remained level at the halftime whistle.
Portland and Louisville remained in a gridlock battle to start the second half, but O’Kane would place a free kick into the top far right corner to put her side up front in the 76’ and forward Emma Sears would score a third in the dying minutes to give the hosts the three points.
UP NEXT: The Portland Thorns return to Providence Park to host Angel City FC on Sunday, May 17. The Thorns, who are perfect at home in 2026 with three wins and three shutouts, will look to get back in the win column. Kickoff on ESPN2 and KNKR-2 is scheduled for 3 pm PT.
