More Than a Match: Pride Night at Providence Park

More Than a Match: Pride Night at Providence Park

More Than a Match: Pride Night at Providence Park

On June 15, when the Portland Thorns take the field against the Washington Spirit, the night will be about more than just soccer. It will be a vivid, vibrant celebration of community, identity, and the power of showing up—together.

Pride Night at Providence Park is one of the most cherished dates on the Thorns' calendar. It’s a chance to stand up for what matters, to amplify voices, and to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community—an essential and cherished part of our club, our fanbase, and the Portland community at large.

Limited Edition Poster

The evening begins with a burst of color and creativity. The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive an exclusive 12x18” Pride poster, a striking piece of art created by Portland-based designer and illustrator Kennedy Barrera-Cruz. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Kennedy’s work centers joy, visibility, and bold self-expression—making this poster much more than a giveaway. It’s a keepsake, a piece of art, and a symbol of what Pride means here in Portland.

“As a creative, my LGBTQ+ experience has shaped the themes and playfulness of my work. I avoid sticking to one style; I constantly hunger to learn new design styles. I want to draw in all the colors and textures of a rainbow in my illustrations. With my Thorns Pride poster, I learned how to recreate a risograph effect and textures to add a retro element I admire.” -Kennedy Barrera-Cruz.

And that’s just the beginning.

Re-Inc Collab

This year’s Pride match will also feature an in-stadium-only drop from Re-Inc: a limited-edition collection of scarves, shirts, and hoodies that blend performance with purpose. You won’t find these pieces online—this is a drop for the people who show up, who stand together, and fill the stands with a sense of community.

Athlete Ally x NWSL Bedazzled Ball

The NWSL Bedazzled Ball will make its Portland debut at the Pride match with a special Match Ball delivery moment with Athlete Ally.

The NWSL Bedazzled Ball is exactly what it sounds like – a soccer ball covered all the way around in diamonds. The crystal-incrusted Nike soccer ball has more than 10,000 individually placed jewels and was created as part of a Swarovski collaboration with a women-owned company, Beyond Diamonds.

At the end of June, it will be auctioned to the highest bidder, with proceeds supporting Athlete Ally’s mission to create inclusive and affirming spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals in sports.

Rose City Riveters Prideraiser

With the Thorns thick in the playoff hunt, the energy at Providence Park is already electric. Add in the colors of Pride, the roar of the Riveters, and the collective joy of our community coming together, and June 15 is shaping up to be an unforgettable night. The Riveters are continuing their Prideraiser tradition this year and have asked if we can support the initiative again.

Prideraiser is a grassroots fundraising campaign that takes place across many supporter groups. Each group selects a local LGBTQIA+ organization to support, and fans pledge a donation amount per goal scored in June. At the end of the month, supporters receive a reminder to fulfill their pledge based on the total goals scored.

This year they have selected to support The Marie Equi Center and their LGBTQIA2S+ Community Health and Recovery programs. You can find their pledge page HERE.

Yes, the match will air nationally on CBS. But the full experience? That only happens here, in the stands, with all of us.

Show up proud. Show up loud. We’ll see you at Providence Park.
