PORTLAND, Ore. (August 22, 2025) – The Portland Thorns announced today that it has acquired French international forward Julie Dufour through the 2027 season and a 2025 international roster slot in a trade with Angel City FC. In exchange, Angel City will receive $40,000 in 2025 intra-league transfer fee funds from Portland.
“Julie has competed at the some of the highest levels in women’s football and we know she will bring invaluable international experience to our young squad,” President and General Manager of Soccer Operations Jeff Agoos said. “We are excited to welcome Julie to the environment we’ve created and look forward to the contributions she will have as a member of the Portland Thorns.”
Dufour will be available for selection for Portland beginning with the match against Kansas City Current, which is set to kickoff at Providence Park at 7 p.m. PT. Tickets are available for purchase at thorns.com/tickets and the match will be available to watch on ION.

Dufour began playing professionally at 16 in France’s Première Ligue. In eight seasons across all competitions, she had stints with Lille (2017-2020), Bordeaux (2020-23) and Paris FC (2023-24) to accumulate 35 goals in 159 appearances.
Dufour scored the decisive goal to help Paris clinch qualification to the 2023/24 UEFA Women’s Champions League, their first appearance at the tournament in 11 years. She registered nine goals in 13 Champions League matches between 2023-2024.
In search of a new challenge, the 24-year-old joined Angel City during the offseason for her first stint in the United States. She has started four of 10 matches in her inaugural NWSL season with Angel City.
Internationally, Dufour has eight caps with the France Women’s National Team and helped her country make a championship appearance in the 2023/24 UEFA Women’s Nations League. A member of the French youth national teams since 2017, she helped France win their fifth UEFA Women’s U-19 Championship in 2019.
Joining one of the most dominant teams in the NWSL — the Thorns lead the NWSL with three NWSL Championships (2013, 2017, 2022) and lifted two NWSL Shields (2016, 2021) and a NWSL Challenge Cup (2021) — Dufour will bring in important international experience to one of the youngest squads in the league and look to make valuable contributions as Portland build towards a successful future.
PORTLAND, Ore. (Saturday, August 15, 2026) – The Portland Thorns continued their impressive home form with a 2-1 win over Orlando Pride on Saturday when forward Caiya Hanks — who was making her return to the pitch after missing action for over a year with an ACL injury — scored a stoppage time winner to secure three points for the home side.
Both sides battled back and forth as they tried to search for the opening goal, with Thorns goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold making three saves to ensure the match remained level going into the halftime break.
The Thorns came out into the second half much more threatening in Orlando’s half and finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when forward Pietra Tordin laid the ball off to forward Deyna Castellanos, who from the top right corner of Orlando’s box placed the ball perfectly into the top left corner of the goal over the hands of Orlando goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse.
The lead was short lived however when Arnold’s diving save to punch out a crossed ball in the 63rd minute ricocheted off the knees of Orlando forward Jacqueline Ovalle and rolled into the net to level things back up.
From there, Portland and Orlando continued in their fight to search for a second and despite several good looks at goal, the match remained level.
That would all change after Hanks — who subbed on in the 88th minute — curled the ball into the goal from outside the box in the 96th to send Providence Park into a frenzy as the Thorns secured three points and extended its home unbeaten streak to 12 matches, nine on the season.
