PORTLAND, Ore. (Saturday, October 3, 2026) – Despite an intense second half rally, the Portland Thorns fell 2-4 to Boston Legacy FC on Saturday night at Providence Park.

Portland and Boston struggled to breakthrough early in the match as they went back and forth around the middle of the field. The night would only get more difficult for the Thorns when forward Sophia Wilson was given a direct red card in the 22nd minute of the match.

From there, Boston would go on to score twice unanswered. The first goal came in the 35^th minute when midfielder Annie Karich’s cross into the box found midfielder Alba Caño, who volleyed the ball into the Portland net. The second goal came minutes later in the 39^th when midfielder Sarah Schupansky’s shot from outside the box bounced off the left post and into the goal.

The halftime break gave the Thorns a moment to reset, and they came into the second half much more aggressive. Portland would get a breakthrough when forward Pietra Tordin won a penalty and converted it from the spot in the 59^thminute to bring the Thorns back into the match.

Portland continued their push to level the game with several threatening looks on goal, but Boston would get back on the scoresheet when forward Amanda found goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold off her line and shot the ball in for Boston’s third in the 88^th.

However, the Thorns did not let that deter them and just two minutes later, midfielder Shae Harvey struck the ball with power from outside the box to bring them back just one goal shy from equalizing. It would not be enough though as Amanda managed to score her second of the match for Boston three minutes later to secure three points for the visitors.

UP NEXT: The Portland Thorns return to NWSL action on Sunday, October 18 at Bat FC. Kickoff from PayPal Park is scheduled for 2 pm PT on ESPN and KNKR-2.

PORTLAND, Ore. (Saturday, August 15, 2026) – The Portland Thorns continued their impressive home form with a 2-1 win over Orlando Pride on Saturday when forward Caiya Hanks — who was making her return to the pitch after missing action for over a year with an ACL injury — scored a stoppage time winner to secure three points for the home side.

Both sides battled back and forth as they tried to search for the opening goal, with Thorns goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold making three saves to ensure the match remained level going into the halftime break.
‍
The Thorns came out into the second half much more threatening in Orlando’s half and finally broke the deadlock in the 58^th minute when forward Pietra Tordin laid the ball off to forward Deyna Castellanos, who from the top right corner of Orlando’s box placed the ball perfectly into the top left corner of the goal over the hands of Orlando goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse.

The lead was short lived however when Arnold’s diving save to punch out a crossed ball in the 63^rd minute ricocheted off the knees of Orlando forward Jacqueline Ovalle and rolled into the net to level things back up.

From there, Portland and Orlando continued in their fight to search for a second and despite several good looks at goal, the match remained level.

That would all change after Hanks — who subbed on in the 88^th minute — curled the ball into the goal from outside the box in the 96^th to send Providence Park into a frenzy as the Thorns secured three points and extended its home unbeaten streak to 12 matches, nine on the season.

UP NEXT: The Portland Thorns host Denver Summit FC for the first time at Providence Park on Saturday, August 22. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:45 pm PT on ION and 910 ESPN Portland. Purchase tickets for the match HERE.
