
PORTLAND, Ore. (December 3, 2025) – The Portland Thorns were well represented throughout the final 2025 FIFA Women’s International Window in November/December, with 11 Thorns players ramping up their campaigns to fight for a spot at the Brazil 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. A complete recap of each player’s international involvement can be found below.
With the 2025-26 CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League well underway, countries in South America are competing for a top two finish to secure instant qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. Forward Deyna Castellanos and Venezuela finished the window as group leaders after two shutout results, a strong 6-0 home win vs Peru and a scoreless road draw against Ecuador. Castellanos played both matches in their entirety and in the victory against Peru, scored the opening goal and assissted the fifth.
Elsewhere in CONMEBOL, forward Valerin Loboa contested the full 90 in Colombia’s 1-1 draw at Bolivia, with Las Cafeteras sitting second in the standings right behind Venezuela.
Defender Reyna Reyes and Mexico began their 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign with a huge 14-0 win against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the opening round of the 2026 Concacaf W Qualifiers. Though Reyes did not feature in the qualifier match, she did start for Mexico days later in a 2-0 exhibition win against Costa Rica.
Goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold recorded a shutout in the Matildas dominant 5-0 win against rival New Zealand, the first win in the two-match series. Australia won the second match 2-0, but Arnold did not feature on the field. These matches were Australia’s last until they host the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in March, which will also serve as qualifiers for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
For the United States, midfielder duo Sam Coffey and Olivia Moultrie were called up for a series of friendlies against Italy, securing two shutout victories, 3-0 and 2-0, respectively. The two Thorns only appeared in the first match, with Moultrie scoring early in the second minute and contesting 70 minutes while Coffey played through the final whistle.
Midfielder Jessie Fleming and forward Mimi Alidou both got significant playing time in Canada’s two-game series against Japan, while defender Isabella Obaze came onto the field to help Denmark close out its draw against Norway at a neutral venue in Spain.
At the youth level, defender Jayden Perry and forward Pietra Tordin travelled across the pond with the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team, beating the senior Slovakia Women’s National Team 1-0 and England’s U-23s 4-2. Perry and Tordin got the start versus Slovakia and against England, Perry contested the full match while Tordin came on as a late sub.
