U.S. Soccer announced today that Portland Thorns captain and midfielder Sam Coffey has been nominated for the 2025 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year award. Thorns fans can voice their support for Coffey with their vote here. Voting is now open and concludes on Friday, Dec. 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The winners will be announced in January 2025.
For club and country, Coffey has played a pivotal role in the midfield. In her first year as the Thorns captain, Coffey led the team (the youngest in the NWSL this season) to a 3rd place league finish and the NWSL Semifinals, registering two goals and four assists along the way. For the USWNT, she scored four times in three FIFA windows, quadrupling her USWNT goal production from her three previous years.
