Shorthanded Thorns Win 2-0 Over Rival Seattle Reign

Pietra Tordin shines in front of home opener attendance record crowd.

PORTLAND, Ore. (Friday, March 20, 2026) – In front of record home opener crowd of 21,321, the Portland Thorns beat rivals Seattle Reign FC 2-0 in the 44th edition of the Cascadia Rivalry.

The Thorns were up for an uphill battle early in the match, playing with 10 after midfielder Cassandra Bogere picked up two yellow cards before the ninth minute. However, they maintained position of the ball and continued pushing towards Seattle’s goal to find the opener.

As the match progressed, the Thorns would be the ones to strike first in the 28with midfielder Olivia Moultrie sending in a corner that found forward Pietra Tordin, who headed the ball into the bottom left corner.

Almost 10 minutes later in the 37’, Tordin sent a through ball in towards forward Reilyn Turner, who dribbled into the box and beat Seattle goalkeeper Claudia Dickey in the 1v1 to double the Portland lead before the break.

The second half started off just as intense in the first, with Portland pushing to find a third and continuing to deny Seattle shots on target, having given up none in the first 45 minutes.

In the 57’, Portland would once again be subject to another expulsion, this time defender Reyna Reyes. However, despite being down by two, the Thorns did not let their foot off the gas and continued to fight off the Reign’s efforts.

Portland would hold down strong and after a grueling battle, secured a second straight win and clean sheet to start the 2026 season.
