PORTLAND, Ore. (Saturday, May 30, 2026) – Portland Thorns rallied back to a 2-2 draw against Utah Royals FC on Saturday afternoon at Providence Park, with forward Sophia Wilson scoring a late penalty to extend Portland’s home unbeaten streak to 10-straight across all competitions (nine in regular season play) since September 20, 2025 (7 W, 3D).

Utah began the match pressing the Thorns backline to try and get ahead first, but the defense managed to keep the Royals at bay, with Portland goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold getting a goal line clearance in the 13^th minute to ensure the game remained level.

In the 21^st minute, Wilson dribbled the ball into the box and the Utah defense managed to recover, but midfielder Olivia Moultrie snuck in to steal the ball and shoot it into the bottom left corner to give the Thorns the lead.

Wilson once again orchestrated a goal in the 27^th minute, laying off the ball at the top of the box to defender Marie Müller who then passed it back to Wilson to put the ball into the back of the net, but the goal was ultimately ruled offside much.

Utah would manage to get one back against Portland just before the end of the first half, with defender Nuria Rábano sending in a ball towards forward Kiana Palacios who headed it over Arnold’s hands into the net.

The goal put an end to Portland’s home shutout streak, with the Thorns not having conceded in their last seven matches across all competitions at Providence Park. Portland’s league record of regular season minutes without conceding also came to end, cementing itself at 637 minutes.

Portland faced an uphill battle to start the second half when Utah doubled their lead minutes after the break when forward Mina Tanaka passed the ball within the Portland box to forward Cloé Lacasse, who struck the ball into the net to grab the lead for the visitors.  

Defender Reyna Reyes had an opportunity to level the match back up in the 79^th, but Utah goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn managed to keep it out for a Portland corner. In the following play, the ball fell near the goal line for a Portland opportunity but a scramble between both sides kept the ball from going into the Utah goal.

Finally, in the 88^th minute, defender Jayden Perry, who had subbed into the match earlier, would draw a penalty in favor of the Thorns. Wilson would step up to take it, sending the keeper the wrong way as she equalized to send Providence Park into a frenzy.

Portland continued its push to seek a third goal, but ultimately the match played out to a draw and both sides walked away with a point a piece in the final match before the NWSL midseason break.

PORTLAND, Ore. (Saturday, August 15, 2026) – The Portland Thorns continued their impressive home form with a 2-1 win over Orlando Pride on Saturday when forward Caiya Hanks — who was making her return to the pitch after missing action for over a year with an ACL injury — scored a stoppage time winner to secure three points for the home side.

Both sides battled back and forth as they tried to search for the opening goal, with Thorns goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold making three saves to ensure the match remained level going into the halftime break.

The Thorns came out into the second half much more threatening in Orlando’s half and finally broke the deadlock in the 58^th minute when forward Pietra Tordin laid the ball off to forward Deyna Castellanos, who from the top right corner of Orlando’s box placed the ball perfectly into the top left corner of the goal over the hands of Orlando goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse.

The lead was short lived however when Arnold’s diving save to punch out a crossed ball in the 63^rd minute ricocheted off the knees of Orlando forward Jacqueline Ovalle and rolled into the net to level things back up.

From there, Portland and Orlando continued in their fight to search for a second and despite several good looks at goal, the match remained level.

That would all change after Hanks — who subbed on in the 88^th minute — curled the ball into the goal from outside the box in the 96^th to send Providence Park into a frenzy as the Thorns secured three points and extended its home unbeaten streak to 12 matches, nine on the season.
