PORTLAND, Ore. (August 17, 2026) – The Portland Thorns announced today that it has agreed to a one-year contract extension with midfielder Renee Lyles that will see her remain in the Rose City through 2027.
“Since her arrival, Renee has shown consistent development in her game and comes in ready to work with a positive attitude that carries through the dressing room,” said President and General Manager of Sporting Operations Jeff Agoos. “She bolsters our attack with her versatility and technical ability, and we look forward to her continued impact as we set out to fight for an NWSL Championship trophy.”
Lyles joined the Thorns during the 2026 preseason as a non-roster invitee and impressed the Portland staff to earn her first professional contract. She led Portland in preseason scoring with four goals including a hattrick against C.F. Monterrey at Providence Park.
Lyles has made seven appearances for the Thorns so far and had a player of the match performance when she got her first career goal and assist in a 2-2 draw against Gotham FC last month.
