Thorns extend unbeaten streaks in front of a season-high attendance.
PORTLAND, Ore. (Sunday, June 15, 2025) – On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in front of a season-high 21,268 fans celebrating Pride and Father’s Day, Portland Thorns FC posted a dominant 2-0 victory against Washington Spirit to extend its home unbeaten run to eight matches and remain undefeated against the Spirit in matches played at Providence Park.
Portland came out in the first half dominating the field of play and were rewarded for their efforts with the lead, struck into the net by Thorns forward Reilyn Turner following an impressive link up play from midfield duo Olivia Moultrie and Jessie Fleming.
Washington would amp up its offensive pressure in the second half in search of the equalizer, but the Thorns defense locked down and won its defensive battles to keep out the Spirit. Additionally, goalkeeper Bella Bixby – who played her first home NWSL game since 2023 – registered four saves to deny Washington any opportunities.
The Thorns would secure victory with a second goal in the 82’ after Fleming sent in a long ball to rookie forward Pietra Tordin, who chipped the keeper to score her first Providence Park goal and ensure the Thorns were back in the win column.
